Substance Use
I spent the first decade of my career working in substance use disorder treatment. The common thread with mental illness is adversity and trauma. For this reason, treating these roots and developing resiliency is my longest standing expertise.
After completing my master's in social work and working with birthing and parenting folks for 6 years with overlap in the substance use treatment world, I was inspired to focus on this population as I grew into the mental health field.
I spent 4 years as an integrated therapist in an OB-BYN/Midwifery office, working collaboratively with other health care providers. During this time, I completed my certification in Perinatal Mental Health and my certification in EMDR.
In my private practice, I use a holistic big picture approach to therapy that takes internal and external factors into consideration and relies on both development of conscious coping skills and integration of the sub-conscious. Together we will gain insight into the systems you inhabit in the past, present and future, paving the way to empowerment and resilience.
Modalities of Treatment
EMDR
Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing is an evidence-based somatic intervention designed to address trauma and anxiety. Utilizing your natural subconscious healing processes, you address stuck points from your past that interfere with mental wellness and healthy functioning.
LI
Lifespan Integration is a gentle somatic intervention designed to resolve trauma without re-traumatization by establishing a connection between shattered ego states. Research indicates that recipients of this therapeutic modality live more firmly inside of their window of tolerance than they were able to before.
CBT
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy is a psycho-social intervention that focuses on identifying and challenging unhealthy thoughts and behaviors. CBT has been proven to reduce symptoms of depression and anxiety among many other mental health conditions.
DBT
Dialectical Behavioral Therapy is a type of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy designed to enhance skillful living in the areas of mindfulness, emotion regulation, distress tolerance and interpersonal effectiveness.
MI
Motivational Interviewing is a counseling technique designed to help you work through the ambivalence that diverts you from moving in the direction of your own self-fulfillment and mental wellness.
